From the green monster, and no, not the Fenway Park green monster, to DiJonai Carrington being traded to the Lynx, and a possible sun move, the WNBA has been headlining the sports industry.
A serial green monster thrower is on the loose. First making their mark at the Dream vs. Valkyries game, they have now made their mark at three WNBA games. With a minute left on the clock and both teams tied at a score of 75 points, the mean green was launched onto the court, as it wouldn’t be the WNBA without a little chaos. In a recent twitter post, Sydney Colson reacted with, “Sorry I did NOT mean to throw that so far y’all.” Along with in her and Theresa Plaisance’s recent podcast episode, Syd stunned in a recent mean green look.
In some more relevant news, the Dallas Wings have traded guard DiJonai Carrington in exchange for Diamond Miller, Karlie Samuelson, and Minnesota’s 2027 second round pick, as recently announced. And yet again, the Wings are breaking up the Paige Bueckers, Nalyssa Smith, and DiJonai family, leaving Paige to her own devices under the demand of coach Chris Koclanes.
In some regional news, there has been recent talks of the Connecticut Sun moving to the famous TD Garden, home of the Celtics, after supposedly being purchased by owner Steve Pagliuca. It has been in talks that he paid a record 325 million for the team, but Sun team President Jenn Rizzotti has shut down all rumors in a recent press conference, stating, “contrary to some of the articles that were out yesterday, I just want to be clear that on this day, the team has not been sold.” As a Bostonian, this would be major news for the city, but it also would add complications, as the Sun, Boston Bruins, and of course, Celtics are all in season at the same time.
It’s never a dull moment in the WNBA, and with raising antics, comes raising publicity, so maybe the green monster wasn’t so bad after all.
