The phenomenon that is Women’s sports is taking the world by storm, and recently, the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) has been in the spotlight.

The league has gained major traction thanks to a field of new-generation players, such as Female Athlete of The Year Caitlin Clark, Golden State Valkyries Kate Martin, and Seattle Storm’s Nika Mühl, entering the scene.

With the drastic pay gap between men’s and women’s sports, female athletes have found ways of keeping busy and keeping a paycheck in the off-season. The new 3-on-3 league Unrivaled has provided an opportunity for players to continue their basketball season in an alternative form.

The league consists of 6 teams, with 36 players from various positions and playing styles. With a loaded field of legends and number-one draft picks, including Aliyah Boston and Sabrina Ionescu, Unrivaled not only provides an alternative to a penniless off-season but also a chance for women in basketball to heighten their skills in a fast-paced, high-intensity tournament.

In addition to finding success through basketball, players have also gained traction in the media through their involvement in different sponsor brand deals. Angel Reese, a forward for the Chicago Sky, has partnered with multiple companies such as Kellogg and Mcdonald’s to bring us ‘Angel Reese’s Puffs’ and ‘The Angel Reese Meal.’

With anticipation rising, many are also eager to know who will be drafted as the No. 1 pick for the 2025 season. The Dallas Wings, with a 2024 season record of 9-31, have the 1st pick of the draft, and are predicted to select University of Connecticut guard Paige Bueckers.

Following many exciting offseason trades and a talented class of upcoming players, the impending WNBA season will be more action-packed than ever.
