Fenway Franks and Fangirling

Roman Anthony. That’s all.

As someone who isn’t the most avid baseball watcher, I attended the Red Sox Vs. Dodgers game on July 26th, and here are my thoughts.

I never really understood baseball, until this summer. My friends and I started going to the Cape Cod Baseball League games, as they host players for the league. If you ever get the chance to go to a game, get the jelly donut burger. As unappetizing as it sounds, it is a Y-D Red Sox summer staple. With their help, I now at least understand how to read the score board- a big milestone for a girl who can barely understand the simplest baseball terms.

Without fail, the red line was running behind schedule, making us just a few minutes late to the game. Not even at our seats, yet in the stadium, Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez both hit home runs. The stadium roared as we watched the play over the mini tv mounted to the ceiling of Fenway Park.

Just after the third inning, I did what anyone must do when going to a Red Sox game; I got a Fenway frank. Anyone who has been to a Sox game knows the feeling of eating a frank at sunset in Fenway, and to say the least, it is marvelous.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Jaren Duran and Abraham Toro put some points on the board for the sox, bringing them behind 3-2 until in the bottom of the 5th, young talent and right fielder Roman Anthony shows off the speed for a triple.

In all honesty, going into the game, I think the only player I could name was Jarren Durran, but thanks to the girls in front of me who were doing the “I’m talm bout innit” trend to Roman Anthony, I can now confidently say he has gained a new fan.
